Yukon Gold

Rolled into Whitehorse late last night after a scenic but long 12 hour drive. Crashed in to Couchsurf with a wildlife photographer from Paris named Nikolai where we ended up playing guess that cartoon theme song in french with the entire 5 person French population of Whitehorse. Are gonna chill out in Whitehorse to check out the town, take in a brewery tour and basically just not drive all day. It's a beautiful city that I'm looking forward to spending some time in. We sorta had to hustle today so lots of the pictures are just out the front window. sry. It's a stunning drive though and we've had great weather so far.

Day 4: Fort something or other

Process is going well. We couchsurfed the other night with an very friendly semi-retired couple at their hand build log cabin outside of Dawson Creek. Highways have been good, better then Saskatchewan by quite a bit. Its beautiful and rugged and empty up here. Here being Fort Nelson where we stopped off for the night. Tomorrow we'll be making the jump to Whitehorse. Things keep going well. It's been hovering just above zero the entire trip and we're getting far enough north that there's snow left over from the winter. Scenery is beautiful and we've seen moose and a bear already. I'll keep trying to post pictures and updates that we're alive here when i can.

Blog

Loaf here, first of Anchorage is capitalized. Second off, I may be the patient road warrior but Dylan has been an amazing driving force in this ridiculous adventure. So yea, we're here at my cousins house in Edmonton, taking it easy, gonna shower sleep, eat some food. Got to have lunch with my Mum and my sister so that was cool. I have to figure out how to follow BTUSA's blog and BTC's blog. That or go help Dylan cook supper. I'm gonna go to the kitchen.

Saskatchewan in so flat. Sooooo flat. nice though.

I'm going to try and keep things posted on here as regularly as possible so you can all make sure we're still alive. Went to Dauphin to say Hi to Loaf's mom, grabbed some more gear. Tonight we're crashing with friends of Loafs in Sask. Grabbed some sushi and will make the drive to Edmonton tomorrow that will be the vanilla leg at 700 km. I always forget how beautiful and flat the drive through Manitoba and Saskatchewan is. It was really, really nice to sit and stare at nothing all day. Very relaxing. Look forward to sleeping like the dead tonight. Loaf is a road warrior and so far has been nice and patient with my making him randomly stop to film things. So far so good. wish us luck, we'll need all we can get.
Dyl.

Twas the Night Before Alaska....

...And Dylan is still up looking for couchsurfing couches in the middle of nowhere BC and packing... T minus 7 hours til we hit the road. Sorry about the slow updating, Beardtrip Kickoff Party went well, had a great turnout. I'm not doing the thanks list again, thanks everyone, you all rule. We'll try and keep this blog more updated then it has previously been. Personally, I'm looking forward to sleeping in the car tomorrow all the way to dauphin. Im wiped already and we haven't even left yet. Oh well.

It is tremendously nice to be just about ready to go. We've been talking about this almost non-stop since January and it'll be nice to get it rolling. We will be rushing to Dauphin tomorrow to have lunch with Loafs Mom (yes, I capitalized it.) then crunching through to Saskatoon for the eve. From there we will make the hop over to Edmonton, crash for a night there, then brave the 2100 km of barren wilderness between E town and Whitehorse. Wish us luck.

We'll try and keep this updated as best we can.

Dylan

ps. Blogger spell checker doesn't know how to spell Saskatoon. anchorage, no problem, Whitehorse, ditto, Saskatoon, just not happening. Poor Sask.
